Tomorrow kicks off the first day of Nanowrimo: National Novel Writing Month. Each year, thousands of people participate in this all-out race against the clock to write 50,000 words in the month of November. Last year, I tried, wrote a few thousand words, and sputtered to a smoking, steaming, screeching halt.
This year, armed with weapons from my How to Think Sideways course, it’s GAME ON. I’m combining my lessons from the course with my drive to write.
Of course, I decided today that I wasn’t happy with the plot I’d figured out for the to-be-written novel, and am in the process of redesigning the whole bloody story.
Yes, apparently I like to punish myself.
I won’t be kicking off my writing at 12:01am–I have to work early in the morning, and after my shift, driving for 3 hours to visit my family. So I’ll start writing tomorrow night. But 3 hours alone in a car with incredibly boring scenery? My muse has no where to run, no where to hide. Me, my muse, and my voice recorder will be spending some quality bonding time together.
I plan to post snippets of my writing every Friday, or more often if there’s time. So check back here for some pieces of the first Demonbane book.
